Rows of hot lunches in take-out containers, ready to serve at Outreach on 7th

How You Can Help at Outreach on 7th

Every weekday of the year, Outreach on 7th serves a hot meal and a bag lunch to go to anyone in need, without questioning or judgment. That’s only possible because of neighbors who give their time, their gifts, and their goods. If you’ve been wondering how to get involved, here are some of the best ways to start.

Serve at weekday lunch

Our Lunch Program runs Monday–Friday, 10:30–11:30 a.m., at 320 W. 7th Street in Royal Oak, and 50 to 80 guests join us each day. Volunteers help get meals ready, serve, and make sure everyone who walks through our doors feels welcome. We can also use help in our Clothing Closet.

To get started, send us a note through our contact page, and we’ll be in touch.

Help at the Essentials Pantry

Once a month, on the first Saturday from 8:30–10:30 a.m., our Essentials Pantry offers everyday items that Bridge Card benefits typically don’t cover, like toilet paper, toothpaste, soap, paper towels, and laundry soap. It’s a great way to serve if your weekdays are full, and the need is growing: we served 104 families at our October Essentials Pantry.

Plastic bins labeled with categories like shampoo, body lotion, and washcloths are neatly organized on shelves, each containing various personal care items and supplies in a storage room.

Give online

Gifts help us buy the food, hygiene items, clothing, and other essentials that run short. Giving online is quick and secure, and every gift, large or small, makes a difference.

Donate items

Please bring donations to the church office at Royal Oak First United Methodist Church, 320 W. 7th St., Royal Oak, Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Right now our neighbors especially need:

  • Warm jackets, coats, sweaters, and hoodies
  • Blankets and sleeping bags
  • Gloves and winter hats
  • Menstrual products (panty liners, tampons, and pads) and heavy bladder control pads (6 or higher absorbency)
